If you're reading this, then you clicked on my super-catchy title for my first blog entry (sarcasm).

Four years ago, my beloved, David, and I took a trip to a rural mountain town in North Carolina. Fast forward four months and we found ourselves the proud owners of our dream land (and fixer-upper cabin). It's definitely been and interesting four years. Lots of ups and downs and sideways. However, we still wouldn't change anything we've done (though we did think about it) and we've learned a lot. We still fail regularly, but every failure produces learning. I feel like we should be P.H.D.s by now.

I decided to start a blog for many reasons. For one thing, it will be an outlet for my thoughts and musings about life and the world around me (lucky you). It'll also be a showcase for all the things that we do right....and wrong. Whatever it may be. Vegetable gardening, cooking, baking, animal husbandry.

I also plan to have a forum on here for anyone who'd like to discuss things. Maybe you're thinking of moving to the country for a new life. Maybe you want to learn to grow your own vegetables, make your own stuff, hunt, raise your own meat, etc. Maybe you're a pro at all that and want to chime in with some tips or advice. Maybe you want to swap recipes for foods or products. Or maybe you think you may find perspective in some way by reading the entries.

In other words, my goal is to start a community. So join the "family" and delve into our world of successes, failures, struggles and imperfections. Subscribe here and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for extra goodness.
